Nurturing care and protection are supported by a range of interventions delivered prepregnancy and throughout birth and the newborn period, infancy, and early childhood. Many of these interventions have shown benefits for child development, nutrition, and growth, and reductions in morbidity, mortality, disability, and injury. This Nurturing Care Framework provides a roadmap for action. It builds upon state-of-the art evidence of how child development unfolds and of the effective interventions that can improve early childhood development. It outlines how parents and caregivers can be supported to provide nurturing care for young children.
